Conference Proposal Information
Black Transmen, Inc invites proposals for workshops and discussion sessions for the 2013 Black Transmen Inc, Transgender Advocacy Conference, hosted in the beautiful Dallas, Texas March 13- 17, 2013.
Now in its 2nd year, The Black Transmen Inc, Transgender Advocacy Conference, provides a thought-provoking and stimulating forum opportunity for educators of all disciplines and experience levels to share practical ideas and best practices that advance education, advocacy and social change.
Submissions should relate to one of the following topical areas:
• Key Issues: Trans Health and HIV/AIDS & STD Prevention Planned Parenting, Transgender Homelessness & Hunger
• Socio-Economical: Identity, Culture, Religion, Family, Health, Financial/Wealth, Careers, Education, Business, Legal, Political, Community Building and Youth Services.
• Anti Violence: Anti-Bullying, Suicide Prevention, Domestic Violence Prevention and Sexual Assault.
* Supporting Education Departments: Gender Studies, Women Studies, Multicultural Studies, Religion Studies, Sociology, Government/History, Family Services, Psychology, Criminal Justice and Business Management.
Online Video sessions, 15 minutes in length in which presenters share skills, expertise or product knowledge for public online viewing?
Informational sessions, 30 minutes in length in which presenters share professional expertise or product knowledge. (no additional audiovisual aids are needed)
Workshop sessions, are instructional sessions, 60 minutes in length, in which presenters share specialized topics or particular skills and techniques and discussion can be applied in participants' settings. Powerpoint set-up and/or DVD player will be provided if needed. Presenter &/or Co-presenter.
Discussion sessions are 90 minutes in length, feature an interactive presentation followed by opportunities for questions, answers and group discussion. Powerpoint set-up and/or DVD player will be provided if needed.
Discussion audience Transmen, Transwomen, Transyouth & Parents, SLGBTQHI Allies.
Due to the limitation of the number of scheduled conference presentations. Proposals that are not scheduled may be invited to be presented as online video sessions for public viewing.
Deadline to submit presentation proposals February 5, 2013.
Selected presenters are responsible for their own conference registration, lodging and travel arrangements.
